Mojo Module Installation
Important Note:
Electronic components are sensitive to ESD (electrostatic discharge) and can be damaged by improper handling. Please only touch circuit boards by their edges when installing or removing. Ground yourself to the metal enclosure of Silver Bullet first to discharge any built-up charge on your person. Also, be sure to power off your unit, disconnect the XLR5 power cable from the back, and let all capacitors fully discharge before beginning the steps below. You are responsible for any circuit damage or malfunctions that may occur due to improper installation or removal of modules from the expansion slots. If you blow up your unit, we can help you get it fixed, but it will not be covered under warranty. Just go slow and follow the instructions.
The C Mojo Amp / Colour modules are located on the far left side of the Silver Bullet mk2 main PCB behind the Mode and Mojo Select rotary switches on the front panel.
Remove Existing Colour Modules
Before installing your new Mojo Module you will need to remove any installed Colour modules (e.g. Hitmaker 4000). Each Colour module is 3x1.4 inches. There are four plastic snap-lock standoffs in the corners of each module that secure the module to the Silver Bullet mk2 main PCB. These plastic standoffs will stay with the Colour modules when they are removed.
- Power off the Silver Bullet.
- Disconnect the XLR5 power cable from the back of the unit.
- Wait 10 minutes to let all capacitors fully discharge. DO NOT skip this step.
- Using a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver remove the seven (7) countersink screws that hold on the top cover of the Silver Bullet mk2. Set the cover aside.
- Use your fingers to carefully and slowly pry up both the left and right edges (the short sides) of the lower Colour module (right channel) closest to the front panel.
- Pull the module straight up evenly from both sides so that the connector pins do not get bent.
- Repeat the removal process for the upper Colour module (left channel).
Install Mojo Module
There are four metal standoffs in the corners of the overall C MOJO AMP footprint. A #4-40 screw with lock washer is pre-installed in each standoff. We recommend configuring the module with your desired settings before installing it. See the related help article for the Mojo Module you are installing.
- Power off the Silver Bullet.
- Disconnect the XLR5 power cable from the back of the unit.
- Wait 10 minutes to let all capacitors fully discharge. DO NOT skip this step.
- Using a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver remove the four #4-40 screws from the metal hex standoffs in the corners of the C MOJO AMP footprint. Set these aside.
- Remove the Mojo Module from its anti-static bag.
- Configure the settings you would like to use per the guide in sections below.
- Align the Mojo Module to the footprint such that the 16-pin connector is on the right hand side.
- Carefully insert the pins of the module into the female connector interface on the main PCB. On the Silver Bullet mk2 this is labeled “SKT8”.
- Press the module into the connector until the PCB rests evenly upon the four metal hex standoffs.
- Re-install the four #4-40 screws to secure the module. Do not over-tighten. If you drop a screw onto the circuit board use small plastic tweezers or something magnetic to carefully remove it.
- Replace the top cover on the unit. The flange on the front of the cover should sit right up against the back surface of the faceplate.
- Re-install the seven (7) countersink screws for the cover.
